In Swedish 'Jul' comes from the word Yule or Yuletide meaning Christmastide. A 'tomte' is a small winter solstice gnome that came from traditional swedish folklore. A tomte was known to watch over the farmer, and also as a gift bearer although it was not originally associated with Santa Claus as it is today. These two Swedish gnomes are made of wool, with button noses and long, soft beards.
