A Jultomte (jool-tome-te) is a winter solstice gnome from traditional Skandinavian folklore. In Swedish 'Jul' comes from the word Yule or Yuletide meaning Christmastide. A ‘tomte’ was known to watch over the farmer, and later, as a gift bearer. Originally a pagan symbol, today the Jultomte has come to be associated with Christmas time in Sweden. These two Jultomte with rosy button noses and long, soft beards are a cheery and sweet way to welcome winter and the holiday season. Sold individually.
